TOSST PhD student Ricardo Arruda arrived in Kiel, Germany this week to commence his research stay as part of his PhD research looking at air-sea exchange of CO2 in the North Atlantic Ocean. Ricardo will be working with the research group of Prof. Dr. Arne Koertzinger at GEOMAR and, in particular, working with Dr. Tobias Steinhoff who has vast experience with the installation and operation of measurement systems for surface water and atmospheric pCO2. As part of his stay, Ricardo will participate in a research cruise on the FS Poseidon to the waters of Mauritania and Cape Verde. He will return to Canada on board the FS Maria S. Merian on a long research cruise from Cadiz, Spain to St. John’s Newfoundland.
